One ear twitched before his head lifted a fraction. The sudden cacophony of noise made him grimace, but it was a familiar racket although at a volume he was unused to. Kurama wasn't the kind who shouted, who raised his voice for any reason, he was a creature of low purrs and smirks whose voice went quieter with anger, softer with pain. The yell itself is what caught his attention, more-so than his name.
He almost reached for the book out of reflex but the voice was coming from the door, the damned door, and he'd told Kurama not to come he'd tried to make him swear -
"Fox...?"
His voice rasped in surprise and he hauled forward against the chain, blue eyes flaring wide. "Fox, what're you doin' here?"
