[At first all you can hear is faint music, the song vaguely identifiable as being in Greek. A few moments later a male voice joins it, his pronunciation slightly off and halting. Soon enough it ends and the voice sighs.

Seemingly thinking that the recorder hadn't been on until now he starts to speak.]

There are days... when I sincerely hate what I've done with my life. Never my distant past; I'm quite content with that. It's what I've done recently that I loathe. Lying to her. Staying here.

Before Kuro was returned to me... I had no qualms staying here for the rest of her life. It was only proper, after all. She raised me, put up with me when I was an ungrateful child. I can't leave her. [soft laugh] I never could, really.

And then I found Kuro and the tournament happened and suddenly it felt like home again. It was a feeling I missed. [chuckles again] It was a feeling I liked. It was nice, being myself again with no questions asked.

[He's quiet for a long moment, only the white noise indicating that the recording was still active] I should go back, to be with Kuro as we used to be. To do as we used to do. But... I have school to finish, my mother and younger brother to take care of. [A deep sigh] I don't know what to do. But... I have time to decide. Time tends to be there always.

[And feed cuts out. All replies will be in voice unless otherwise noted.]

[There's a small crash, as though someone bumped into something in shock, along with a muffled "My locks..." Before a real reply can be heard.

There's a laugh.] Heard that did you? I believe I sympathize with you as well then.

No, no. It's quite alright. It's not terribly secret, just thinking out loud. Though if you don't mind ignoring my rather terrible Greek I would be grateful for that. [You can hear the smile in his voice.]

[A pause, his voice growing serious.]

I've been... busy, actually. There's been a new development in the case I'm working on, so I can't spend too much time on the community. Not that I really want too, considering all that's been happening lately...

I see. Yes, the community is a rather depressing place to be this month so far. How is your arm doing? Have you been eating well?

Indeed. Autumn is a time of change: leaves turning and falling to earth... Relationships coming to an end...

My arm is fine. I was healed shortly after being discharged, so I'm good as new. And, well... I've been eating, at least. Maybe not as well as I should be, though...

Autumn can also be a time of rebirth. The Autumn bulbs are blooming, after all. Change is not always bad. [Laughs] Just generally.

Good, good. I was hoping you would find someone to take care of you. Perhaps I should stop by with some homemade food. You strike me as the type to mainly subsist on instant foods or take out.

That is true, as well. Still, there seems to be a particularly melancholic air about the community, and it's probably not due to the changing of the seasons...

Erm, well... that's very kind of you, but I don't want to impose or anything. I'm rather busy with this case I'm working on...

November seems to be a generally depressing time on the whole, not just on the community.

[chuckles] It's not an imposition if I offer, Shirogane-san. I rather enjoy cooking. I could just drop off some lunch for you tomorrow so you only have to take the time it takes to eat away from your case. Would that be alright?

[There's a pause. He's obviously reluctant to have any visitors...]

[False cheer] But we can't let it get us down, yes? We have to be there to comfort the ones who are having a tough time.

Understood. [Actually he just seemed jumpy, but whatever works] I think you'll enjoy this. [He'll probably bring some kind of traditional sweet along with him, probably daifuku]

[And, well, Naoto is a bit paranoid that Hakuba especially will try to stop him.]

You're welcome, though it truly isn't necessary. [He chuckles] I have a tendency to do such things for people I take a liking to. [Expect a lot of azuki bean based stuff with him. Kitsune thing]

Heh. It's seems quite a number of people have started taking a liking to me in the past week or so...

[ohgod, i love azuki bean paste... as does naoto...]

You're easy to like. Very kind. A bit prone to getting in trouble, however. [Said fondly]

[I've actually never had half of this stuff. Can't find most of the ingredients. I will be having soba for new year's though!]

...I'm not like Hakuba. I don't constantly get kidnapped and/or shot on a near weekly basis.

[Outright laughs] I was not thinking of Hakuba-san, I promise. You actually remind me of a friend and former member of the community. Much more polite and proper than him, but with the same knack for attracting trouble.

Really? [genuinely surprised now!] Who might that be?

...I don't attract trouble. You're thinking of Conan-kun now...

Urameshi Yuusuke. He's been gone for a few months, however. Bit of a punk, but with a good heart. He was also a detective.

Conan-kun? Oh, yes, the overly intelligent child with glasses. I've seen him around.

Bit of punk, huh? Sounds more like Kanji-kun to me.

That's right. He's a brilliant detective, and the only one I know of who has managed to successfully foil Kid's schemes thus far.

[Chuckle] Perhaps. It was more the stubbornness and detective aspects I was thinking of.

Ah yes, him. I've seen him at a few heists. Always a minor bother.

...you've been to some of Kid's heists before?

Conan-kun's is actually quite helpful! I'm still amazed and thoroughly impressed by how a child his age is capable of keeping pace with the infamous phantom thief.

I try to attend as many as possible. I ended up missing the one you saved Hakuba-san at, unfortunately. I enjoy them, for the most part.

Helpful to the authorities, that is. Though I do have to agree on his impressiveness.

I wasn't aware that there were people from the community who showed up as spectators, aside from Suzuki-san...

Yes. He and Ai-kun both are rather... gifted children...

As far as I'm aware it's just myself and Suzuki-san. I do... try to stay out of her sight; I've no interest in becoming part of her message board reports.

I don't think I know Ai-kun.

[laughs a bit nervously] I think it's a bit too late for me to remain out of the spotlight, so to speak...

You probably know her as Haibara. She's Hakuba's little cousin.

Yes, I can easily see that. You're likely quite popular, especially after taking that bullet.

Hm, no. I must have missed her. Does she not post frequently?

No, not really. She appears to be a rather private person and dislikes social functions. The only time I've met her in real life was at Hakuba's birthday party and when he was hospitalized.

No, but it does make it easier for fangirls to pair you with one or the other. Or both, Inari knows I've had that happen enough. [The last bit is muttered, but audible]

Ah, that makes sense then. I tend to miss the ones under the radar.

Really, don't those squealing fanbrats have better things to do than trying to pair Kid up with various detectives? What ever happened to school work?

Perhaps you should talk to your loved ones about the situation you're in. Explain what you feel you need to. I don't fully understand it myself, nor will I pry. Something might happen to you or your partner where you family needs to know, or something might happen to them and they find out the wrong way. I hope things work out okay for you.

[He sighs] Hello Langly-san.

I don't think she needs to know. She's often the target of those who wish to control me and... I think she would be much happier never knowing about all the risks I've put her through.

I worry about her.

I understand that part...but the part that concerns me is what if someone uses her own naivety against her?

[He's quiet a long moment] ...I can only hope that by this point everyone is too frightened of me to make further attempts.

You can hope...but there is always someone stronger, better, then us. Granted, we don't want to think that there is.
