[He sounds strained, and possibly a little insane?]

Scratching, clawing, digging.  Scratching, clawing, digging.  Scratching, clawing, digging.

[He's growing more frantic as she speaks, faster and louder and much more desperate.]

There's something in there, something trying to get out.  I can't let it out, can't let it out.  Has to stay inside, unacknowledged.  Ignored, for the sake of everyone else.  Safer, for them and for me.

Blasted fog!

[The last is said in a hushed whisper]

She saved me from cracking my head open on a hardwood floor when I fell from a stool. Possibly worse as I would have also fallen on the shattered plates that gave her the scars.

I was the one not paying attention to her telling me not to do what I was doing. It was because she was paying attention that I did not end worse than I did.
